The Singaporean surgeon has flown to West Sumatra twenty times for cleft lip surgery.

Her first mission in 2004 lasted six days. She has returned nearly every year since, with a nursing team drawn from both countries.
"What changed is not only the number of patients," she says. "Now my Indonesian colleagues lead the operations and we assist."
